Nah, much of masculinity is derivative from warrior codes - you wouldn’t say that a penis is all you need to be a warrior, it becomes much easier to understand when you approach the topic this way.
These codes did actually make sense for the time because you really did need men to have certain domineering attitudes for society to function, but they don’t really make much sense to have anymore
Anyway, if you ever have the time you should read how ancient Romans conceptualized manliness, they were so much more severe and brutal with it

When men could fight year round while having kids and all it took to take and keep shit was a big rock, patriarchy formed. Then men made up a bunch of imaginary, changing rules as the rocks stopped being big enough and you needed more rocks to explain why their children should also keep the shit their dads took with the boys getting more of that shit.
But we've lived for the last five or six hundred years in times when rocks don't actually mean shit. Some of us realized that meant we could let people do whatever the fuck they want, but for others the only thing holding it together is "Me big and have big rock" mentality shapeshifting to partition people into what food they're allowed to eat, who to fuck and what sexual position, and what favorite color they're allowed to have. And twenty years ago these were different. And forty years ago. And sixty years ago.

I'm not black, so I can't speak for how this issue uniquely affects the black community, but I got treated poorly and as less of a man for years because I was interested in art and fashion and that's woman stuff I guess.

I think it's because the 90s and 2000s were so overly masculine in the hip fashion, with baggy clothes, and people dressing like they were construction workers, that these younger folks think that these flamboyant clothes are an agenda.
