Attempted genocide. Killed his parents because he hated being poor. Killed his brother. I can't remember why. I think he snitched or something.

Isn't having a penis like all it takes to be masculine by default?

359

u/SpiritMountain Feb 19 '23

Not if you're trans.

In the end you're masculine/man if you consider yourself to be one. Same thing a woman. It's 2023 and we are challenging these gender norms for good reason and benefit to men, women, and themby's.

u/eggrollin2200 ☑️ Feb 19 '23

70

u/DaoMark Feb 19 '23 edited Feb 19 '23

Nah, much of masculinity is derivative from warrior codes - you wouldn’t say that a penis is all you need to be a warrior, it becomes much easier to understand when you approach the topic this way.

These codes did actually make sense for the time because you really did need men to have certain domineering attitudes for society to function, but they don’t really make much sense to have anymore

Anyway, if you ever have the time you should read how ancient Romans conceptualized manliness, they were so much more severe and brutal with it

Society has actually made a lot of progress, even if we see stupid tweets like this every now and then

1

u/BZenMojo ☑️ Feb 20 '23

When men could fight year round while having kids and all it took to take and keep shit was a big rock, patriarchy formed. Then men made up a bunch of imaginary, changing rules as the rocks stopped being big enough and you needed more rocks to explain why their children should also keep the shit their dads took with the boys getting more of that shit.

But we've lived for the last five or six hundred years in times when rocks don't actually mean shit. Some of us realized that meant we could let people do whatever the fuck they want, but for others the only thing holding it together is "Me big and have big rock" mentality shapeshifting to partition people into what food they're allowed to eat, who to fuck and what sexual position, and what favorite color they're allowed to have. And twenty years ago these were different. And forty years ago. And sixty years ago.

I will speak for us crackers. We do cause problems. And I’m sorry for that. All people who identify as men can be masculine however they want to be.

253

u/pittiedaddy Feb 19 '23

Oh, I'm white too. The problem isn't being "masculine", it's the twisted idea of what they believe "masculine" actually means. They think It means treating others like shit, never taking accountability, looking down on others, acting like what Joe Rogan says is "alpha" behavior, and mistaking kindness for weakness.

These are the guys that will ignore their kids, never hug them, or even tell them they love them.

82

u/dickmcgirkin Feb 19 '23

Being “masculine “ is doing what makes you happy and doesn’t cause other people physical harm. All these “alpha male” types can eat a bag of dicks. They are toxic.

If you have to say you’re something …. You’re not.

^ This. There's a fatherless problem in ALL of the communities. And motherless... Children need some adult not so brainwashed to beat them down at every turn for having feelings or trying to wear a particular color. Our boys aren't being taught how to love, respect and protect themselves and their wives and children. And being called "masculine" or "alphas" for it. It's demented.

Edit: To clarify, the main issue isn't being ignorant and making well intentioned mistakes toward our children. It's being unwilling to listen, learn and grow if you are making a mistake. I'll be damned if I teach my kid to hate himself and others.

Years ago my dad worked at planet Hollywood in Vegas and there was a prince concert. There is a poster of his where he's holding a guitar but one end was pointed at an upward angle.

He got a lot of little souvenirs and I remember him bringing one of those posters home and telling me that an older lady got so angry and said that it was suggestive that the guitar angle was really an example of Prince's erect penis and she wanted all of the posters in the entire hotel promoting his concert that night taken down. She asked to speak to the manager of Planet Hollywood. One of my favorite stories.

It angers me to no end how we will immediately shun any black man from like being himself or being comfortable or secure in himself. I struggle with it still and I get nervous just wearing pink around my family. Shit I collect Pokémon plushies. We criticize black men and our community as a whole for “hyper sexuality”, and not opening up about our emotions. But if I do anything outside of what a man is supposed to do my sexuality is immediately questioned. Idk what point I’m trying to make this just makes me super upset

163

u/GavishX ☑️ Feb 19 '23

People worrying about the “emasculation of men” that also shun a man for being hyper sexual are upset because it’s not actually about his own happiness or the treatment of women. It’s about not doing anything that makes them potentially unattractive. Hyper sexuality is unattractive and dressing feminine is unattractive, which means that he’s less valuable as a man. Not the content of his character or his happiness or confidence. It’s honestly sickening.

54

u/caretaquitada ☑️ Feb 19 '23

It’s about not doing anything that makes them potentially unattractive.

Damn this is what I've felt but didn't know how to express. These kinds of people don't care about men or boys, their health, their ability to express themselves or anything of the like. It's really just about their personal tastes. They want to force you into a mold that they are familiar with and any deviation has to be stamped out

70

u/WildflowerChickpea Feb 19 '23

I think you made your point perfectly. Every time I read what men really feel it hurts my heart. Thanks for sharing. I’m so sorry y’all gotta deal with this. I don’t have an answer but here’s my virtual hug lol and I’m gonna go and hug all my brothers and male friends IRL and let them know they can be their true authentic selves with me, whatever that looks like. I hope you have a safe space as well!

It pisses me off how the men's rights types spend so much time focusing on shitting on women when there's all this toxic masculinity out here.

I'm not black, so I can't speak for how this issue uniquely affects the black community, but I got treated poorly and as less of a man for years because I was interested in art and fashion and that's woman stuff I guess.

It sucks that we've been conditioned by society to the point where even though we know it's bullshit lots of us still struggle to break away from traditional masculinity and femininity. Weird example, but with body hair on women I know it's fucked up that I expect women to shave but I don't have to and yet I'm so conditioned to think hair on women is gross that I still have to actively question my biases if I see a woman with like leg hair or whatever

your point is clear: being “masculine” is a fxxking trap. if you lean into it, you’re cut off from your own emotions and told you need to feel more. if you step a pinky-toe outside of the “man box”, your entire identity is under investigation. i’m 31, and i’ve said fuck it. i’m gonna do what i want, cuz i’m not dying early holding onto this ball of anger because the world told me its the only emotion i can have. i’ve made a promise to myself to be a whole person and not this brain-dead homunculus the patriarchy tries to push us to be.

As a straight dude, he looks pretty fucking cool to me. Excellent actor too. Always hyped to see him in any film in watching.

u/2to3InchesOfShaft Feb 19 '23

Bro this the one that posed for the pic. He knows what he’s doing lol

5

u/kyl_r Feb 19 '23

I read the original tweet caption and saw the image thinking the photo was some kinda get back against emasculation because god damn

I’m a cis bi woman so idk, but a man’s a man in heels or whatever he wants to wear in my book.

4

u/Boggie135 ☑️ Feb 19 '23

Who is this Tamorah fool?

7

u/MookieV ☑️ Feb 19 '23

After Kang beat Scott Lang's ass like Clubber Lang that nigga can wear whatever he wants and you'll like it.

6

u/Basketspank Feb 19 '23

Prince would have taken your lady while in his heels and smashed her in his ass less chaps.

You all know it. Don't lie.

6

u/Im__Questionable ☑️ Feb 19 '23

Niggas wanna go back to when they could call someone gay and they would actually be offended so bad. Like he so fr emasculated? You know damn well you just learned that word to call someone pussy

6

u/LegacyAngel ☑️Tsugikuni Yoriichi Feb 19 '23 edited Feb 19 '23

Jemele is absolutely wrong on her example lol. People dragged prince for years. People literally wanted prince arrested, even killed, for allegedly harming society’s moral fiber.

To ignore what happened to prince is to ignore the progress since as well.

5

u/Mediocre_Analysis_54 Feb 19 '23

Looking at this pic? I see Rudy Ray Moore. We all know that there was only one Dolemite, but dammit? He comes close.

7

u/yotaz28 Feb 19 '23

they think the concept of showing skin is only there as a tool for them to keep women being considered as sex objects, and so men doing the same is "emasculating" theyd genuinely be happier with men wearing burkas

4

u/Probably_A_Variant ☑️ Feb 19 '23

Doffy could never

6

u/Bionic_Webb13 Feb 19 '23

He look good baby

5

u/Whos_Blockin_Jimmy Feb 19 '23

That Lenny Kravitz again??

6

u/agutema ☑️ Feb 19 '23

Bet he wouldn’t say that to Jonathan majors face after that creed trailer.

4

u/Munnodol ☑️ Feb 19 '23

Damn Jonathan… I’ll go put myself in the cell

5

u/Longest_Inch ☑️ Feb 19 '23

People did look at him as androgynous. They talked shit under their breaths as he and his entourage walked out with every dime in the club😂

5

u/Bubbly_Satisfaction2 ☑️ Feb 19 '23

Ugh, not the Masculinity Inspectors. 🙄

They’re just as worse as the women, who go around gate-keeping femininity and using as a way to demean black women/girls.

3

u/Double_Eggplant6983 Feb 19 '23

I read Kang and immediately think Kangaroo, wondering why BPT talking about 'roos again.. Nope not about kangaroos.

He look good.

Prince would have rocked that shoot and no one would have thought him emasculated!

3

u/Raezak_Am Feb 19 '23

Love that they're worried about his muscles being emasculated. I've never seen thighs like that.

Obviously women can be buff too (and they should)

4

u/davidthande Feb 19 '23

Some folks just got too much time. This man will never intersect with your life; ya’ll got colonization as personality. Go off Mr Majors! Wear that pink!

4

u/PrettiKinx ☑️ Feb 19 '23

Nothing wrong with the cover. People need to chill the fuck out.

3

u/joaaaaaannnofdarc ☑️ Feb 19 '23

Emasculating? Wtf. Tamorah get a grip he is styled after his fav character from one piece

4

u/a-midnight-flight ☑️ Feb 19 '23

She probably thinks her opinion holds weight with her paid checkmark 💀

5

u/ogoextreme ☑️ Feb 19 '23

Motherfucker dressed like Doflamingo basically One Pieces Al Capone. Yet he's emasculated? Man looks like he one shots Yonkos for warmups.

I haven't even seen the new Ant-Man, but I know there's gotta at least be 30 solid minutes of Paul Rudd just LOSING every fucking fight against this man.

I need people to stop pretending like pink got the gay energy in the fiber.

7

u/Threash78 Feb 19 '23

Ok but as much as people loved Prince nobody saw him as manly.

4

u/BeingMe28 Feb 19 '23

This man is so damn fine!

2

u/Basilbeesweetie3 Feb 19 '23

Huh??? Some people will never understand art. Also I'm trying to find something feminine but I'm coming up short. Is it the color? People are so fragile. Even if there was... embrace your inner feminity and be silent and take in what is Johnathan Majors.

3

u/UppityPotHead Feb 19 '23

Isn’t that an Isaac Hayes photo shoot reboot?

3

u/Ill_Will_Prince84 Feb 19 '23

‘Emasculate’, pretty sure he’d beat the brakes off anyone the original tweeter knows at this point

3

u/VapidRapidRabbit ☑️ Feb 19 '23

Emasculating? LMAO. I still wouldn’t fight Jonathan.

3

u/derpferd Feb 19 '23

Dude knows how to carry himself was the confidence and that makes him cool and charismatic.

If you're worried about emasculation, then you're worrying about shit that doesn't matter.

3

u/MiggeldyMackDaddy Feb 19 '23

I wish I was 2% as confident as that.

3

u/DirtySouthDame ☑️ Feb 19 '23

3

u/MassiveConcern BHM Donor Feb 19 '23

Isn't she one of those claiming things like eating ice cream is "gay"? I'm so tired of this bullshit homophobia masquerading as social commentary. The reason these women can't keep a man has nothing to do with men being "gay", but their own toxic personalities driving men away.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '23

the brainwashing is real. nothing about this is “letting the man live” and “be fine”. there is a clear agenda being pushed to emasculate men.

3

u/Work_Werk_Wurk ☑️ Feb 19 '23

He has a right to call himself a man and dress however he wants for photos.

But let's not all sit here in the comment section, and pretend like he isn't at all presenting himself in a feminine manner.

Calling it emasculating is wrong, though.

You can't emasculate some one who's confident in their masculinity, and there's no way to tell how he feels about his masculinity from this photo alone.

2

u/AnnaBanana1129 Feb 19 '23

How about men who look this good wouldn’t have let the picture be snapped if he felt emasculated?!

2

u/Boggie135 ☑️ Feb 19 '23

You leave Tic alone, miss

2

u/GraceJoans ☑️ Feb 19 '23 edited Feb 19 '23

Like whooooo is she talking about with this foolishness?

This doofus is worried about “emasculation” when she should be congratulating him for being a wildly successful and talented guy WITH AGENCY in a society that is constantly trying to step on us. I shudder to think what she views as “strength”. The ignorance, implied homophobia, and lack of priorities is astounding.

2

u/Lookalikemike ☑️ Feb 19 '23

I wish they'd emasculate me like this. I'd need an extra dikk for all the fukken I'd be doing.

2

u/Hindufury ☑️ Feb 19 '23

The amount of people I've seen thirst over Mr. Majors even more after this photoshoot came out shows how "emasculating" this was not.

2

u/marccoogs ☑️ Feb 19 '23

Forget about prince, just look at all the male entertainers of the 70s and 80s. They was straight up wearing clothes that we would consider feminine nowadays. I think it's because the 90s and 2000s were so overly masculine in the hip fashion, with baggy clothes, and people dressing like they were construction workers, that these younger folks think that these flamboyant clothes are an agenda.
