I feel like most 22 year olds these days work on like 5 hours of sleep. Either they're studying and have a part time job because they don't have enough money to support themselves. Or they're working and have to work ungodly hours in an effort to "prove" their worth to their employers because the employer rewards a bad work-life balance in their favour....

I'm 25 and most days I work on 5 hrs sleep and no breakfast
5
u/Seyon Oct 15 '22
I'm 32, doing about 4.5 hours a weeknight and having coffee for breakfast.
Haven't really felt that tired, the coffee is due to chemical addiction and I haven't had the time off to deal with caffeine withdrawal.

When I was 22 I took summer classes while I worked so I could graduate a semester early. Class was at 7 in the morning, then went to my first job at 11, left at 3:30, took a quick nap in my car and went to my next job from 4-11. It was honestly insane.

Fathers work 24 a day at tough man jobs that women couldn’t possibly do because they have to wear boots and gloves and that’s why they deserve to make more money than women who should be at home barefoot and pregnant anyway.

Every day I get up at 4am to start my shift at the lifting heavy things factory. I lift the heavy things for 14 hours before I get in my full size pickup truck to drive home to my wife and children. I don't question why the heavy things need to be picked up. I just do it for my family.

Dirt is the most common medium for storing and transporting heavy things so yes. It helps that I never wash, because I am too busy lifting heavy things to provide for my family to worry about personal hygiene.

One of the treats of driving my dogs around is how happy the dogs and the workers get for the encounter. But I also do not stay a drive through longer than 2 cars.
I need dog versions of happy meals. Sliced apples are the healthiest treat I can buy for the dogs on our rare outings.

The Starbucks cult membership is the first box you check if you want to be in the soccer mom club. You’d MUCH rather wait in the 30 minute line than go to the independent shop across the street that has better, cheaper, faster coffee (but no cell phone app).
→ More replies10
u/allegedlydm Oct 15 '22
I’ve mostly given up Starbucks, but there are no independent coffee shops within a 15 minute drive of my house because the only one we had closed during the early days of Covid and never reopened. I’ve got Starbucks and Panera and that’s it. But you can easily tell who is there because it’s coffee and who is there because it’s ✨Starbucks✨

u/ADeadlyFerret Oct 15 '22
Shit in my town the only things they have built in the last few years have been drive through coffee shops, car washes and dollar store variations.

This has been reposted so many times I can't help but feel her FB feed is full of reposts of this shit. She bitches about anything trivial? Some reposts this to show her entitlement.
Though she's probably culled her friends down to only those that agree or are family.
If this were a comedy, instead of the tragedy that life is, this will be the pick at her wake/funeral.
"She died like she lived.... bitching about not being in the front of the line. How do you like it now, Karen?!?! You died first!!!"

What's the appeal of coffee shops? Even if you grind your own beans, it's faster to get a coffee at home.
6
u/lamest-liz Oct 15 '22
People usually want fancy coffee, like a latte or espresso, etc. Depending on where you go, it could be much tastier (3rd wave shop) but it also probably comes down to convenience, such as being on the way to work and just grabbing it on the way.

Imagine you're so brain dead you drink caffeine when pregnant
Edit: nevermind, I'm the brain dead
21
u/Skyblacker Oct 15 '22
FYI, a mug of coffee a day reduces a pregnant woman's odds of developing gestational diabetes, a condition which can kill the baby and mother.
It's a dozen cups of coffee a day that increases her odds of miscarriage.
Like anything else, the devil is in the dosage.

u/ThisIsMockingjay2020 Oct 15 '22
I was always told it would stunt their growth in the uterus or something. Not being able to drink coffee was the worst part of being pregnant.

I don't know anyone that either has a job or goes to college and sleeps 10hrs a night during the week.
I mean I guess I could but at that point it'd mean I would get back from work, chill or do something for 30min, eat, chill for 30min, take a shower and back to sleep to wake up the next day and go to work.
