This is beyond madness. You’re either that rich or that dumb to do something like this.

The lengths Muskovites will go to in order to defend a rich kid throwing a tantrum is wild
16
u/ChiselFish Dec 19 '22
Lying on Twitter polls and then doing the thing is Musk's signature move. Like the time he asked if he should sell Tesla stock. He filed the forms with the SEC before doing the poll. It's like a weird self fluffing thing for him, I dunno I'm not a crazy billionaire.
4
u/Massive3AMdumps Dec 19 '22
No analysis of objective reality required to get on the musk hate train, give no regard to his patterns of past actions. Musk had admitted to dealing with a developmental disorder, likely also affects the development of his maturity. He is playing games with other peoples money
7
u/Kimantha_Allerdings Dec 19 '22
There are plenty of autistic people who aren’t man-babies like he is. I don’t think we can attribute his behaviour to that.
10
u/test_user_3 Dec 19 '22
It's not defending him. It's pointing out that he's a dishonest person and if he steps down he probably already planned to do so.

The god damn Detroit Lions are better at running their team then Musk is at Twitter.
4
u/Mash_man710 Dec 19 '22
I'm Aussie so no idea who they are but we have a local under 9's footy team that could probably do a better job.
4
u/dasruski Dec 19 '22
The lions are the first team to go 0-16 in the NFL, have only been to the playoffs 3 times since the 50s and haven't won a playgame since the 50s. They've wasted multiple hall of fame player's careers.
I would say the Cleveland Browns are inept but they've turned it around to a degree though that team sold it's soul for a sexual predator because he can throw a ball well.

Mets are in a really good place right now, their owner has basically decided to spend as much money as humanly possible to win a championship so they’re pretty loaded with talent
The lolmets stuff is because they’ve historically been cursed with terrible luck and terrible ownership
3
u/RegressToTheMean Dec 19 '22
I know 1986 was a long time ago and most of Reddit wasn't even alive, but younger me still cringes thinking about the Mets/Sox World Series. I think about poor Buckner and the treatment he received by the shitty Sox fans despite he being a key reason the Sox made it to the World Series that year
3
u/skeeferd Dec 19 '22
I love the Mets and you're absolutely right. They did that dude dirty af. As far as I know he's been forgiven but the way they treated him was terrible.

In my opinion, despite Reddit’s problems with echo chambers (such as r/politics and r/conservative), it is still leaps and bounds better than the shit-stained bathroom wall of graffiti that is Twitter.
2
u/jcowurm Dec 19 '22
One of the most popular subreddits r/whitepeopletwitter is arguably the biggest echochamber on the internet. An echo chamber filled with people part of the Twitter echochamber.

u/regoapps Dec 19 '22
"I found some last minute mail-in ballots all casting for 'No'. It was just enough to change the poll results, so I will remain the head of Twitter. Any journalist who asks for proof will be suspended for doxxing."

Bro stop it vote no so he’s forced to keep driving it in clown shoes! Get Tesla taken off him! He wants to leave!
48
u/UnremarkableBob Dec 19 '22
He never would have made this poll unless he already knew exactly what he wanted to do and the poll was rigged to give him this result. So transparent.
25
u/DadinDenver Dec 19 '22
Guarantee he was told by Tesla investors and SpaceX backers that he’s finished at Twitter and to hurry the fuck up and hire a professional who knows what he’s doing.
27
u/stewie3128 Dec 19 '22
Axios already reported earlier today that he's looking for someone else to run Twitter.
21
u/Initial-Shop-8863 Dec 19 '22
He could hire back the original team and owners, and keep his hands and great ideas(/s) to himself.
7
u/Chubby_Bub Dec 19 '22
Would the original team even want to come back at this point?
10
u/rockidr4 Dec 19 '22
I wouldn't. I'd be deep in the woods right now with some extraordinarily expensive and lightweight hiking gear, possibly with nothing but a GPS communicator to reach me with only my closest loved ones having access to my whereabouts and contact info
3
u/siccoblue Dec 19 '22
Can't imagine anyone with half a brain cell would want to with the threat of Elon as the owner still around. Elon has made that company pure fucking toxic waste to any qualified hiring pools
25
u/DJJazzyGeoffrey Dec 19 '22 edited Dec 19 '22
Don’t fall for it. This an attention grab, just like everything else he does.
The results of this poll don’t mater, a new CEO is likely already in negotiations.
Musk has grown tired of his new expensive toy.

Anytime he does a poll that doesn't go the way they want, literally all the comments are "wow the Dems are faking votes again" or "here come the bots!" They absolutely refuse to acknowledge loss. They either win or the other side cheated. It's so sad
38
u/FreeJSJJ Dec 19 '22
What's it gonna do? He'll just step down and install one of his sock puppets in the position. He'll still make the decisions, but will avoid the liability and flak for the decisions. Once he's gone, people will gradually pay less attention to the decisions made there due to the absence of such a high profile individual at the head.
Either way it's a win win situation to him. We're just deluding ourselves at this point. Brilliant move though.
35
u/Fifteenlamas Dec 19 '22
I wouldn't call it brilliant. He looks like a moron asking the internet if he should keep his job.
-8
u/FreeJSJJ Dec 19 '22
He's already overpaid for the company, now's the time to cut cost and save the Tesla stocks. He'll earn a bit of cred if he actually follows through and tge next fall guy will take the heat for future decisions
4
u/January28thSixers Dec 19 '22

Cred as in credibility, sry English is not my native language. Just realised that cred is not used as a short term for credibility I guess

u/Inevitable_Sherbet42 Dec 19 '22
Idk, having to pay tens of billions over the actual cost of a company is a big L on its own.
Then having the people on that platform vote you off? For a narcissist of Musk's level?

2
u/killpuddle1 Dec 19 '22
This dude thinks he’s funny. Guarantee he has a vote dump by his bots at the 11th hour which pushes him ahead and says something to the effect of this is how it’s done in American elections.
What a douche if he does.
2
u/KiwiKal Dec 19 '22
I want to see him run that platform into the ground and lose his money.
He wants to run Twitter. Let him.
Also, HOW DO YOU KNOW the next owner(s) of Twitter isn't going to be a right-wing shitstain?
2
u/Old_Fart_1948 Dec 19 '22
MAGA people want Democrats Listening to what they have to say so they can laugh at them, and own the Dems.
They post here they get deleted. So they go to trump social, but there's no dems there.
So where's the fun in posting there?
And Elon thinks that his MAGA Twitter will work better than trumps, MAGA truth site.
This is freedom of speech, And people leaving MAGA sites is the consequence of that free speech.
They are both failures and will die.

u/shainotshai Dec 19 '22

I have two theories. Either this is what Elon wants and he will use it as an excuse to put a CEO in place and fade away from twitter (seems running a social media’s was harder than he thought)
Or he will just say “bots hijacked poll” and ignore it
2
2
u/xRetz Dec 19 '22
'Yes' is going to win, but he won't step down, he'll claim that most of the 'yes' votes were from bot accounts or something.

Why is it pathetic to admit that you don't know shit about running social media platforms?
15
u/TheBigPhilbowski Dec 19 '22
Pathetic because he thinks most people will take this sincerely. In reality, the decisions been made for him already by boards of other orgs his dad's apartheid emeralds bought. To put it simply, he's trying to do a "you can't fire me, I quit" in public to muddy the narrative.
-10
u/eterevsky Dec 19 '22
In reality, the decisions been made for him already by boards of other orgs his dad's apartheid emeralds bought.
You mean he's not in control of the company that he'd bought? This is some conspiracy theory shit.
Also, his dad's apartheid emerald mine costed just £40,000.
5
u/efstajas Dec 19 '22 edited Dec 19 '22
You mean he's not in control of the company that he'd bought?
Of course he is, but it's not like he can do whatever he wants with it without consequences. He has countless obligations to outside organizations and people. Including e.g. the board of Tesla, a public company, who absolutely have the power to oust him and may have already pressured him to let Twitter go for all we know.
Also, his dad's apartheid emerald mine costed just £40,000.
£40,000 in 1969 is half a million pounds adjusted for inflation, and initial purchase price doesn't mean much at all.

It's probably because it comes across as something a 12 year old middle school student would do (Do you like me? Please circle "yes" or "no".) instead of a 51 year old billionaire. It is rather pathetic that he runs aspects of his $44 billion purchase via Twitter poll.
-10
u/eterevsky Dec 19 '22
I mean, he didn't buy it as an investment, but to implement his ideas about social media (which are admittedly pretty muddled). In general voting is not the worst method of making decisions, even though it has its drawbacks.
5
u/OutLiving Dec 19 '22
If he didn’t know shit then why did he fucking buy it?
-1
u/eterevsky Dec 19 '22
Apparently he didn't realize it at the time.
7
u/OutLiving Dec 19 '22
Sounds like he’s a fucking horrible businessman then and deserves to be mocked
-2
u/eterevsky Dec 19 '22
He totally deserves to be mocked, yeah. I just don't think the mocking from this post is to the point.
I don't think he's a horrible businessman. He built super-successful businesses in the past. The problem with Twitter is that he doesn't fully approach it as a business. He bought it not as an investment, but to fulfil some ideological vision for it. Now he tries to do it while at the same time make Twitter profitable, which is probably impossible.
