Edit: This is a pre built PC not just the tower, so I would wager everything inside is in equally good shape 🤣🥲
Edit: I made an album of some pictures on Imgur for anyone still watching - https://imgur.com/a/5cS2qAD
Edit: I have contacted the customer support for the company and asked for a refund/return which got approved easily. I will now take it upon me to instead buy seperate parts and build my own PC as a fun project instead of taking the lazy route. Thanks for all the fun comments and support!

Not your job to test it. This is all on whoever you bought it from, they trusted the shipping company who fucked you and who you bought it from. They take insurance out precisely because this happens all the time. It used to cost me 5 euro to insure up to 1500 euro's worth of package content.
I used to build and sell computers. If a PC arrives broken after I've trusted a shipper to handle it I'm blowing out someone's ears because I'm on the hook to replace or refund it regardless if I get the postal insurance payout.→ More replies18

Luckily here in Sweden getting a new one won't be a problem. Up until a product is i nthe hands of the reciever, the company sending it has responsibily for it. So the process of getting reimbursement from PostNord is on them, not OP. OP simply has to contact them and ask for a new one.
So yeah, the only inconvenience is that it's going to take a while to get the new PC.
Why it's not PostNords responsibility to handle parcels with care, and aren't responsible for them in their care is beoynd me, though

In the Netherlands I have never seen a wooded box for a PC every. You don’t need that if you have at least semi decent carriers. You also don’t need the 50€ increase in shipping (especially cause shipping is generally free and wood is expensive here)

Sometimes it's also on the carrier.
I remember ordering boxes of tree nuts and FedEx delivered all of them in absolutely shambled conditions. All of the boxes were falling apart in some way and I could grab the bags out of at least half of those boxes without having the open the box. Three of them could have easily spilled out the bags in-transit because the cardboard was completely obliterated, and one of them indeed was missing a few bags based on the inventory count sheet in the box.
Oh, and I could see that FedEx attempted to patch up those boxes with extra tape to try to hold them together, but either they half-a**ed it, or those boxes were wrecked yet again, because those extra tape was not enough to fully hold the broken cardboard together.

I'm in IT for over 14 years, I never saw something similar, either. That's not possible to happen by fall, I'm pretty sure they used forklift to put the boxes in the delivery truck, probably the forklift driver missed the wooden plate that the boxes are on, went straight to the bottom boxes, squishing them against the trucks wall, but he didn't say anything, to not get fined, and put other boxes after that, to cover the damage done. I think that case was sitting horizontally and that fork went straight to the bottom plate, squishing it on the wall and bending the whole thing.
18
u/ICPGr8Milenko 13900ks@5.8/4.6 | 64GB DDR5 6400 | RTX 3090 | H2O Mar 25 '23
Yeah. The reason I think it was more crushed than dropped is because it looks like there's actually "impact" type damage on both the top and the bottom. I mean, maybe it tumbled? But this looks like it took a hell of a lot of force to the bottom & top together, which is why I was thinking about compression.
4
u/pullmydic Mar 25 '23
Forklift driver. Can confirm this is the most common cause of damage by absolute fucking idiot’s who are too god damn lazy to lean over for a quick second and watch where their forks are going.

That "wooden plate" is called palette xd. Depending on the region, it has fixed dimensions which make it easy to transport goods on.

I mean they could, but I have plenty of photos documenting the damages, including video of unboxing. They are free to explain how I could cause this damage on the 5 minute timestamp on snapchat photo from postal office to unboxing picture at home. However, I don't think that will be necessary since we have rather good consumers laws here, so not too worried about that

I swear postnord is easily the worst of the package services here in Finland. I have had my package tracking just end once it comes into Finland, and then it magically arrives. It's always 1 or 2 days slower than the rest. Atleast I haven't had the carrier break anything yet.

u/rkmara Mar 25 '23
Just yesterday there it was on the news that someone ordered a package via Postnord to Kotka and it was delivered to Helsinki instead (130km distance). Postnord said they are unable to redistribute the package and told the person to get it from Helsinki.

Fastest way here is to pick it up from their warehouse - otherwise it'll take a week to deliver from there.
How does the pickup work, you ask? You walk inside the actusl warehouse, wait by a tiny collapsible desk for someone to come ask you "what does the box look like" as if you knew, and then literally manually look for it in a literal PILE of shipments. A thousand boxes just piled on the floor. And the guy walks among them reading the tags trying to find your name on one.
Absolutely hilarious to watch and wait. How the manager of the warehouse/logistics hasn't gotten himself fired and replaced in years is beyond me.

If the store has no other choices but PostNord for couriers, I don't order. Pretty simple. They don't even deliver packages to your home, instead just dropping them off at Posti. What am I paying for if I could just use our own postal service to get the exact same service, but better?

I got a package from FedEx once that was rolled in tape. It was flat back furniture. When I finally got the tape cut there were what I assume was forklift tire marks and the wood was smashed to bits. Also someone else's package was smashed flat in between the things lol....I looked up the address and name on the flat package and called the business listed and let them know their screens for their welding helmets were destroyed in my package lol......someone found a pile of fed ex packages off a bank near where I live. Apparently the driver didn't have enough time to deliver and opted just to throw the packages off a bank into a ditch. The good Samaritan delivered the packages they found too....I never received a phone I ordered from Verizon after fed ex dumped it out beside the road over 300 yards from the house but someone did try and activate the phone and vzw got me another one at their store and deactivated that phone permanently... ..

Welcome everyone from r/all! Please remember:
1 - You too can be part of the PCMR! You don't necessarily need a PC. You just have to love PCs! It's not about the hardware in your rig, but the software in your heart!
